Baba Reggie Singleton, Executive Director of The Males Place Inc. is a Health Educator and a highly regarded authority on issues that include: Mentoring, Fatherhood, Parenting Education, Manhood and Youth Development. Baba Reggie have positively impacted and mentored thousands of Black boys in the Charlotte and surrounding communities on their arduous journey to manhood. He is also a Farmer and Master Gardener and utilizes growing and farming to solve serious problem regarding food access, employability and self –sufficiency. He was a lead consultant with Gang Alternative Program -G.A.P. More recently he conceived and led an educational and cultural immersion trip to Ghana West Africa for nine “high risk” males. He has successfully initiated many dynamic symposiums, conferences and trainings for local, state and national groups and organizations: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Head Start (Charlotte), National Black Male Summit (Maryland), National Adoption Conference (Chicago), Trio & Upward-Bound Programs (Mississippi, Maryland, and Charlotte), National Adoption and Fatherhood (Mexico) and Rites of Passage (Charlotte).
Reggie Singleton have served on numerous boards, including Big Brothers & Sisters of Greater Charlotte, 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Equity Committee, Mecklenburg Citizens for Public Education, Council for Children and United Family Services, Charlotte- Mecklenburg Food Policy Council. He has received many awards that include: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Keeper of The Dream Award, Nubian Rootz Cultural Center Ujima Award, the Charlotte Observer Hero of Democracy, Carolinas Health Care System Leadership Award, and Mentor of the Year Award (Charlotte Political Leaders of the Future) MAAT-Amos Community Service Award, North Carolina Father of the Year (Department of Public Health of North Carolina Parenting Education Program) and NAACP Community Service Award, The Black Women’s Caucus Education Achievement Award ,Baba Reggie is a frequent guest on talk shows, conferences, radio and has been featured in numerous publications.
Reggie Singleton is a husband of 25 years and a father of three. He is a native of the Sea Islands of Charleston, South Carolina and a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
