Give your time and energy at any of our events or by helping us with projects at our office. There are many opportunities to donate your time, talents and treasures. YBM VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

YBM Conference Mentor for a Day-The YBM Conference Mentors will work with as a team to assist the young black men (YBM) attending the conference.  The primary responsibility of the YBM Conference Mentor is to ensure that the YBM’s stay engaged and get the most out of the day.  The Conference Mentors will assist with the necessary transitions to each session for the young men.  YBM Conference Mentors are required to arrive between 9:00 am and 10:00 am, and stay until 6:00 pm (if your schedule allows).  We need twenty-five (25) capable, confident and engaged men as YBM Conference Mentors.

 

Speaker Ambassador-The Speaker Ambassadors will be responsible for hosting the speakers while they are at the conference. They will ensure that the speakers have all they need to provide a superb session.  You are responsible for introducing the speaker, keeping the speaker on time for the session and distractions to a minimum.  The Speaker Ambassadors shift begins once the speaker arrives for the conference and until the speakers presentation is complete.  We need ten (10) Speaker Ambassadors.

 

Conference/Volunteer Ambassadors-The Conference/Volunteer Ambassadors will be responsible for the greeting of conference attendees and answering any questions that our guest may have initially.  You will be responsible for ensuring the flow of the day for all participants goes well.  We have 3 shifts and they are #1 8:30 am to 11:30 am, #2 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and #3 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.  Two (2) Conference/Volunteer Ambassadors are required per shift and will serve as assistants to volunteer coordinator.  We need six (6) Conference/Volunteer Ambassadors. 

 

Registration Volunteers-The Registration Volunteers will handle registration of the young men, their families and volunteers the day of the conference.  The Registration Volunteer must arrive between 8:45 am and 9:00 am.  The shift begins at 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.  We need twelve (12) Registration Volunteers. 

 

Food and Beverage Coordinators-The F&B Coordinators will be responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the food.  We will provide our guest lunch and a light snack in the afternoon.  The F&B Coordinators will work in multiple shifts for the event.  Shift #1 requires 7 coordinators and shift #2 requires 4 coordinators.  Shift #1 timeline is 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Shift #2 timeline is 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.  We need eleven (11) Food and Beverage Coordinators. 

 

Site Prep/Wrap Up Volunteers -The SP/WU volunteers will be assigned the task of assisting with initial set-up of conference in reference to materials and supplies.  They will help the College Fair vendors with their set up.  They will assist the Speaker Ambassadors in the capacity of floaters/runners to ensure all needs are met to accommodate the speakers.  They will assist with the final breakdown of the conference.  We have 2 shifts designated for this responsibility.  Shift #1 is 8:30 am to 11:30 am; Shift #2 is 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.  We need six (6) Site Prep/Wrap up volunteers. 

 

 Marketing/Communications Volunteers- You will work in conjunction with the YBM Marketing Team.  Arrival time is TBD.  We need four (4) Marketing/Communications volunteers.

 

College Fair Volunteers – Work with all College Fair vendors.  Ensure all their needs are met.  We need two (2) College Fair volunteers. 

 

Take-a-ways/Gift Item Volunteers– Assigned the task of acquiring take-a-ways or gifts for the conference attendees. We need two (2) volunteers to assist with this task.
