YBM to Make 800 Sandwiches for Homeless

In support of Global Youth Service Day and in keeping with YBM’s core values, the young men of YBM Leadership Alliance will come together with their elementary school mentees, family and friends on Saturday April 27 for a special community service event to make 800 sandwiches for some of Charlotte’s homeless neighbors. The 800 sandwiches from YBM’s Operation Sandwich will be donated to the Urban Ministry Center to support their daily soup kitchen service.

Urban Ministry is an interfaith organization dedicated to serving homeless neighbors and ending homelessness. Every day Urban Ministry provides 800 sandwiches to neighbors, which amounts to almost 300,000 sandwiches a year. YBM day at Urban Ministry Center is April 27th.

To help make Operation Sandwich community service a tremendous success, Food Lion has donated over 90 loaves of bread, 80 pounds of turkey and ham and 800 slices of cheese. “We are excited that Food Lion has come on board to support our young leaders in their community service efforts,” said YBM CEO John Martin. “This is an excellent win-win project for the community, Food Lion and the young leaders of YBM. This is also an opportunity for the young men to learn about servant leadership in a real world and hand-on way.”
