Brett Carter is Consumer Operations Service Delivery Executive at Bank of America.Prior to joining Bank of America Brett Carter was senior vice president of electric delivery operations for Duke Energy Carolinas, serving approximately 4 million electric household and business customers in North and South Carolina. He is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of local electricity needs. He currently manages over 4000 employees and contractors.

As a standalone utility the Carolinas delivery operations organization would rank as the 8th largest electric distribution operation in the nation. Carter prior to the jurisdictional approach that led to his current role served as the company’s chief distribution officer with responsibility for leading all the company’s utility distribution assets, grid modernization, fleet vehicles and services operations. In this capacity he managed a group of over 12,000 employees and contractors in order to operate and improve the needs of the 7.2 million households and businesses. Carter set in motion the Lean standardization model for all utility distribution operations and launched a company-wide safety culture.As president of Duke Energy North Carolina, serving approximately 2.1 million households and businesses in North and South Carolina, he was responsible for advancing the company’s rates and regulatory initiatives and managing state and local regulatory and governmental relations, economic development and community affairs. Carter oversaw and served as a witness for 3 state utility rate cases during his tenure as president, that resulted in approximately $700 million of recurring annual revenue for the company.

 

Carter has also served as senior vice president of customer service and business development for Duke Energy. His strategic effort focused on growing the wholesale business created a new revenue stream of over $500 million.
